![]() HAWKFACE & KAVEMAN - STILL GOT NOTHING Hawkface and Kaveman collaborate very well on this project bringing their own talent, styles and ideas together very well on this versatile album both in musical and vocal content. Musically, it's a real mix of hip hop rock and some Latin American. You may recognise some of these tracks from an earlier mix tape project, and you wouldn't be wrong, but even these have been revamped and tweaked for this nicely produced and put together album. From the outset, you "Rappers Beware" this time features Row a nice track to open with. Then it's a trip to the "PJ's" with Daddio and Wiz to roll with the hustlers and to chill on the block. Shout out to Happy Hills! (don't think it exists anymore) Yet even after the grind in the Projects, they've "still got nothing" talking about all the work put in to the game and yet... still got nothing. Chicken dance (It's OK) is always an enjoyable track. It ain't all happy go lucky though, "Broken" featuring Sunny Cheeba, is a look into the disheartened and despondent. Hawkface "Work"(s) his fingers to the bone rapping about how the poor seem to be making the rich richer. Fans of RATM might appreciate "Razzle Dazzler" a harder rock track without sacrificing the hip hop element definitely one to play loud n bang ya head to, then it gets soulful with "Real Life" a great story telling track. "Jack in the Box" switches things up again with light hearted jab at an English delicacy. Hawkface has to "Ask" with nice vocal delivery along with Himi Weis and Sunny Cheeba. This is a very refreshing hip hop album that you need to check out!! available on itunes and cdbaby. Review by D Truelove www.myspace.com/magneticeye |
