I remember hearing ‘Don Gramma’ back in 2000 and thinking at the time that is going to be a British Hip-Hop classic. Now ten years later and the track is considered a classic and Karl Hinds is often credited as a man who was part of the millennium artists who shaped the way for some of the acts you are now hearing in the charts. He is a true emcee in every sense of the word and that is displayed on this impressive long-player.

‘The Need To Heard’ is Karl’s third album and is a brilliant follow-up to the 2004 release ‘Have Patience’. For me it follows this album well, but above all you can hear a more experienced man behind the mic, giving some great views with his social commentary. The single ‘Over 3 Years’ is included here as is the brilliant ‘Live With Regrets’ and the excellent ‘Don’t Make It’ featuring Jeff3, Iceman & Serocee.

Fourteen tracks deep this album is yet another notch on Karl’s belt and yet is another step forward for UK Rap. Karl has got that special something and I just love his whole accent, flow, vibe and swagger. This album is well worth checking out so don’t sleep on it.
