Little Brother ‘Leftback’ (Hall Of Justus Records) www.myspace.com/littlebrother
The North Carolina duo of Phonte and Rapper Big Pooh release Little Brothers fourth and last album ‘Leftback’. After internet rumbling rumours that Little Brother may get back together that now seems unlikely as Phonte & Pooh had a disagreement with 9th Wonder over he beat that was going to be on ‘Leftback’. It seems through all the trouble and strife that everyone is just going to call it a day. So what are we left with? A new Little Brother album that follows up the 2007 release ‘Getback’ quite well. I say quite as it’s definitely not the best album from them I’ve heard, I still actually think they never really matched their 2003 debut ‘The Listening’ and with all the issues surrounding producer 9th Wonder it seems too much has happened. The album is quality and the beats mainly put together by producer Khrysis definitely represent, but there is something missing on ‘Leftback’. It just doesn’t quite stand up to their other three great albums. Review by Tricksta www.myspace.com/trickstawolftown
