 A TRIBE CALLED QUEST ‘Midnight Marauders’ (Jive Records) www.atribecalledquest.com Kamal Fareed aka Q-tip, Malik Taylor aka Phife Dawg and DJ/Producer Ali Shaheed Muhammad better known collectively as A Tribe Called Quest are one of Hip-Hop’s biggest acts, and this to me was the album that catapulted them into the limelight. This was the third album from the group and was released back in 1993. ‘Award Tour’ was the big smash off this long-player and includes the classics ‘Electric Relaxation’, ‘Lyrics To Go’, ‘Hot Sex’ and of course the massive ‘Oh My God’ which features Busta Rhymes on the chorus with production on the album coming from Q-Tip, Ali, Large Professor and Skeff Anselm. This is just one of those albums that you put on first thing in the morning and it gets you on a nice vibe for the day. This is my favourite Tribe album and to me is a pure classic.
