N.W.A
'STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON'
(RUTHLESS RECORDS)

I thought for awhile what album would I choose to review for my favourite classic hip hop album. But I didn’t have to think long to make my mind up to make it N.W.A Straight Outta Compton. To me that album was one of the biggest albums in history that moulded what hip hop is today. It was the catapult of anything gangsta rap related that was going on at the time. From the cover art of all the member's staring down at the cam to the content it was pure raw street music uncut. The member's of N.W.A. worked so well together on the album. Stand out track's are Straight Outta Compton, Gangsta Gangsta, Fuck The Police and Dope Man. The verses are so powerful any true hip hop fan would know the word's off by heart. Dre's production was tight on the tracks also. Eazy E to me was the stand out member of the group as his voice was more high pitched and distinctive than any other member. The energy of track's like Express Yourself another stand out track is amazing. I am just wondering while writing this review would hip hop today be different if this album was never made. I can honestly say yes it would be different. This must be in the top 10 of most influential albums of hip hop. The track Parental Discretion Is Advised focused on the explicit content of the music which at the time was shocking to a lot of people. Maybe there might of been explicit music but never of such volume as a couple of street hustler's outta Compton making a record that would have all sort's of people loving it . The album has a street edge to it which can be seen throughout the album but mostly on the title track Straight Outta Compton. Ice Cube spit's with venom " Straight Outta Compton crazy muddafucka called Ice cube from the gang called ni**a's with attitude” from that opening line you knew he meant business. The album is what gangsta rap is was and should be. That's true street reality.
