Nashville filmmaker David “Cowboy” Keary is seeing success with his independent film project “Money Makers.”  “Money Makers” is a film entirely produced in Nashville, TN featuring mostly talent from middle Tennessee.  The urban drama focuses on the struggles of four inner city teens that are consumed with the common chase for the money and the power, but before they can reach their big dreams, they are caught up in the temptations of drugs, violence, and the struggles with everyday life.

To start the momentum, the film was selected to participate in the exclusive Film-Com event in Nashville, TN in April of 2010.  As recent as this past August 21st the film won the coveted Best Action Feature at the World Music and Independent Film Festival in Washington, DC at the Capital Hilton (www.wmiff.com).  The elegant event featured filmmakers and musicians from all over the world and talent such as Louis Gosett Jr. and many of the actors from the HBO series "The Wire".  Being the only representatives of Tennessee nominated, the win brought fourth great recognition to the film talent and initiative in Tennessee.  The short film “Victim of Society” from Cowboy was also nominated. The film was also a part of the San Francisco Black Film Festival, the upcoming International Black Film Festival of Nashville, and the winner of the Nashville Fusion Film Festival earlier this year.
