Various blogs and websites have daubed Miami native C Ride the next best thing for rap. He has worked with many established rappers on various mixtapes and he’s toured the US with Rick Ross. All this and he hasn’t dropped his debut album yet!

In 2008 you were signed to Polo Grounds Music/ J Records and now your about to drop your debut album ‘Automatic Vibe’. Can you tell us about the album what can we expect to hear from C Ride on there?

Basically you can expect to hear my life stories; it’s my debut album so it’s like my first child. It’s everything I’ve been through from birth till now. On the album I’ve got Game, Rick Ross, Trey Songz and Lloyd. Production wise I’ve got Cool and Dre, Scott Storch and Lil John the album’s not even finished so that who we’ve got so far!

Wow! When will ‘Automatic Vibe’ be released?

It should be out this summer.

Like you said some of the album is produced by Cool and Dre. There’s a story behind you hooking up with them, they called you after hearing your first mixtape ‘Wide Open’ in 2004. Tell us about that.

Yeah I made my own mixtape, pressed it up with my own money; it had my phone number on it. I hit every high school, every club wherever I went I had a mixtape on me and I just gave them out to people. One day Dre called my phone, I didn’t know who they were at first but then when I met them I saw the Terror Squad chains and the studio and I thought I need to be here. That night I sat up recording about 4 or 5 songs, when Cool and Dre came back and heard them it was the done deal, I was with the family.

Besides working with Cool and Dre, you’ve worked on various mixtapes with rappers like Gorilla Zoe, Pleasure P and T Pain. What have you learnt from working with these other artists?

I learnt that you get out what you put in, and you can never work too hard. These big artists work hard and they live in the studio. Every time I work with a big or more established artist they give me motivation to keep going and never sleep. You sleep when you die its work, work, work!

You were raised in Carol City Miami what made you want to become a rapper?

I got in a lot of trouble down in Miami and ended up moving to Atlanta Georgia a lot of people where rapping there. I thought I can do this and if I go hard I know that I’m smart and could be great at what I wanted to do. I made the decision to stop getting in trouble and pursue something that I’m actually great at. (Laughs)

What routes are you taking to keep your name out there?

I’m a mixtape artist so I do a lot of shows off my mixtapes. I do a lot of mixtapes and try to get them everywhere, on the internet for free and I also give them out for free. I want you to buy my album so you can have all this product here for free. I go hard and try to get features like my street album ‘The Arab story’ it has Yo Gotti, Rick Ross and Gucci Mane that’s just my street album coming out next month on free download.

Where can people go and download your mixtapes?

They can go to; www.myspace.com/cride0 or any Hip Hop website I’m tyre and get them on all of them. Once you Google I’m sure everything will come up.

What would you say makes you stand out from the other rappers hailing from Miami?

I try to slaughter whoever is on a song with me; I try and do it so you want to hear my part over and over. Basically I try and go in on every beat and wow you impress you so I think that separates from whoever is on the song with me. I’ve got to give you the hotness.

How did you get the name C Ride? Does it mean anything?

My first name is Chris and an old school DJ used to call me C Rider all the time when I just started rapping. I shortened it to C Ride and its been great…I love it.

There are various blogs and websites saying that you’re the next best thing for rap music. What are your hopes and aspirations for your album and C Ride as an artist?

I hope to stay on the road. I’ve never been overseas so as soon as my album drops I’m going to be in my label’s face telling them I need to get over seas! That’s one of my biggest goals. I’ve been all over the US with Dre and Rick Ross I’ve seen pretty much all of America so I need to reach overseas! (Laughs)

For some one just getting in the game what advice would you give them?

To go hard you’ve got to have more fans than your homeboy and your family because it’s a business. There has got to be a demand for what you’re supplying. Other than that if you don’t work you don’t eat it’s real basic. If you give a hundred you’re going to get back one hundred you’ve got to be your number one fan!

Where would you like to see yourself in 5 years from now? Would you like to be an actor, own a couple of businesses?

I’m in the ‘Cook Out part 2’ with Queen Latifah so shout out to Queen Latifah for putting me in that. In 5 years I hope to be in a lot more movies and I hope to have a lot more albums out.

Tell us about the ‘Cook Out part 2’ did you get a talking role in there?

Yeah I’m basically a young street dude in there so it wasn’t really hard! Queen Latifah became like a big sister to me because of Cool and Dre. They worked with her on her last album so she was at the studio everyday so we bonded and she put me in the movie. So shout out to Queen Latifah! Love you for that!

Ahh well that was really nice of her to do that! C Ride I’d like to thank you for doing the interview is there anything you’d like to add?

Big shout out to 305 Dade County M.I.A! Other than that I’m C Ride Google me!
