GTS Mob have been putting it down of late, with some serious releases and loads of positive things happening for this crew. They spit real life lyrics and have that certain standard of quality. Our UK enthusiast Tricksta hooked up with Crime to get the lowdown.

Where are you from and what’s the Hip-Hop scene like there?

I’m from North West London, Kilburn to be exact. The hip hop scene is not popular but is getting there slowly. In my area there’s allot of talent that needs to be push on the ends.

How did you get into music and what was the first Hip-Hop record you ever brought?

I got into the music through family. All my cousins were on the grime scene MC’ing, but instead of me jumping on the grime scene I jumped straight into the UK Hip-Hop scene and went hard! I can’t actually remember the first record I brought, but I do remember banging 2Pac’s ‘Hit Em Up’ and C-Bo’s ‘Money Comes In Tons’. (Old Skool LOL!)

What have you released so far and what has the response been like?

So far I have released ‘Grind Till I Shine Volumes One & Two’, ‘Gutta Grime’ featuring The Kilburn Banditz & Brazen from Roll Deep, and more recently ‘Call Of Duty’ by the GTS Mob on Ruthless Recordz. So far the response from the mixtapes has been all positive. It’s being sold all over London and is up for sale in Ruthless Recordz as well in the Midlands. Slowly but surely, Crime and The GTS Mob are building a strong fanbase and music is being heard in different areas across Great Britain.

What would say is the most popular track that you have released to date?

The most popular tune at the moment is ‘Life’s Hard’ by myself. This track has hit the ‘The Lookout Show’s’ top twenty two weeks in a row. I have been told that the freestyle is one of the biggest UK Hip-Hop freestyles of 2009 and a video for this track will be up on You Tube late July, early August. This ones a banger so keep your eyes out for it, plus I have another video that is on You Tube now. That’s already causing a major buzz for me, the track is called ‘I’m In The Hood’ and you can see it here…

What producers, mixtape DJ’s, record labels and rappers do you work with, and label are you signed to?

Right now I’m working with UK Hip-Hop’s Pablo Escobar from Ruthless Recordz who is getting all up and coming artists and already well-known artists heard all round the Cities of London anyway. Also DJ Dappa from ‘The Lookout Show’ who is pushing GTS Mob in Bedford, Milton Keynes, Luton, St. Albans, etc. Also biog up FT for the beats. He is a big producer and artist! Mykal Million big DJ host in London doing this ting big time. More artists ‘m working with like BC Bossman (KMZ), BFG (Bang For Grands) and all my dons from GTS MOB; Rampage, Rant, Yung Capo, Killbill all to be heard real soon in this UK Hip-Hop thing!

Have you ever collaborated with anyone who people would consider to be a ‘big name’?

The biggest tune I can say so far has to be BC Bossman and the KMZ gang track "Hungry". I was sent this track not to long ago and I will have to say it is a big banger for the roads 100 percent. Other Collaborations coming out 2009 from Crime & The GTS Mob are ‘Did You Ever Wonder’ which features Crime, BK & Kazz and also ‘Dreamin Of A Jetplane’ which is Crime featuring Goldenbrown, a female singer that you should look out for.

What’s been the most memorable gig and why?

Mine has to be in a club called Buddha blue in Milton Keynes because the crowd was a good turn out and the team tore down the club with some hard bangers.

What radio stations in are supporting your music, and how important is radio play in the digital age?

Right now I’m showing love to Jamrockradio.com which are showing man nuff love. I got a couple interviews on their website and on You Tube when you type in ‘The Look Out Show’. GTS Mob had a hood video called ‘Rock’n’Rollas’ which is produced and directed by Jam Rock Media.

You Tube is a massive medium now for worldwide exposure. Do you have your own channel, and apart from music videos what other footage do you have?

Yes You Tube is very useful, check Crime out on there, as I have hood videos, freestyles, interviews from the Kilburn Bandits, as well as the GTS Mob performance in the Angel Club in Bedford. On my You Tube I've got hood videos, freestyles and interviews from the Kilburn Bandits to GTS Mob performance in the Angel Club in Bedford.

As a recording artist or musician how do you hope to stay earning money in a time where record sales are notoriously bad due to downloading?

At the present time money is hard to earn in the music game but from the help of Ruthless Recordz selling my mixtape and me myself trying to get booked for more events, what I’m trying do at the moment is keep my work rate as two or three mixtapes a month and two can be sold and one you can get on free download either off www.datpiff.com or any another download website.

For people who have never checked your music how would you describe your music?

Real Life Music! I’m reaching out to everyone… girls, ladies, mums, grandmas, baby mums, gangsters, hustlers, full time workers, tax payers, everyone trying to grind until they shine. It’s only right!!! LOL!!!
