US Rapper Derty Den has been making some moves with a barrage of good quality music floating aorund! Tricksta found out more.

Where are you from and what’s the Hip-Hop scene/industry like there?

DD- I'm from Enfield, NC. The music scene in NC period is fresh and very diverse. Where im from its alot of different cliques and rappers but for the most part Drama Squad and Derty Den is the hottest in the 252, but we have loads of dope studios, stations from Raliegh, Greenville and Fayettville and rappers.

How did you get into music and what was the first Hip-Hop record you ever brought?
DD- Well I got into the music by just being in the studio with other rappers. I was attracted to the scene cuz it was something different and because everybody was gettin money. Watching them do shows and move there product, but the thing was I was helping them get it, then it was just starting to be interesting. People had me writing for them and I realized I was nice so I just capitalized off the situation...lol. The first album I bought was Notorious Big "Ready To Die". It was a tape and I really let it rock til my tape popped...lol! This gave me that extra confidence that the big guys can do it for the ladies and fans and I said I'm gonna start writing for myself and I start doing lunch room battles, then shows. One battle got so crazy the security thought a riot broke out and it was a wrap from that...haha

What have you released so far and what has the response been like?
DD- I have released 3 projects so far (GDA  Gang, Legend in the Making and Heatwave) which were all certified street classics. The streets love Derty Den, its like a special occasion when the streets know im bout to drop and when I do a show out in my city or surrounding areas, I always shut the whole city down like im like the president...lol. I'm the local guy on the block, hang in the Malls and does the sweet 16s so the city rides with me because I'm really one of them.

What would you say is the most popular track that you have released to date?
DD- Well for the most part every summer I hit wit a heavy street anthem, but I would say the most popular song would have to be Poppin. The video for Poppin we haven't done yet because this is a video that has to be done Perfect. Kids involved, city involved... I want the Mayor out for this too...haha, so I smash it in shows and people wild out.

What producers, mixtape DJ’s, record labels and rappers do you work with, and label are you signed to?
DD- As for producers I work with Manifest, hottest producer locally. But I been with heavy hitters like Ski Beatz, Black Jeruz, Ill Phill, Half man Half Amazing, The Nsurgentz, Digga, Madizm, Jimi Conway, Taz, Drawzilla, Flawless, Grim Team, Worlds Greatest, Apex, etc. I have worked with a lot of major Djs. I did Heatwave with Don Cannon, Djskillz, Dj Ike G Da, and Dj Mikel. Dj Hitz and I are currently doing "Southern Dynasty" w/ Block Entertainment with love from Flud Watch and Stall and Dean. I am working with a Indie label G. I. T Records out of New York who basically is allowing me to expand the Derty Den brand. I now have fans globally...haha.

Tell us about your latest release, who features, what producers where involved and where you recorded it.
DD- Well my latest release is the Southern Dynasty which is hosted by Dj Hitz I have features on the project from Young Jeezy, Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, Gorilla Zoe. Its for my peeps on the street. Another certified summer banger! I flipped Jay's DOA, so that's the intro and the Outro is my "Fly shyt" with Gorilla Zoe produced by Manifest.

What’s been the most memorable gig and why?
DD- When I did the mixtape release party for Heatwave, that was the most memorable to me because it was the first show I did strictly for myself and my fans. The line was wrapped around the building, I couldn't believe all those people were there to see me! It was crazy, people were in the Mall telling me, Yo Den I'll be there. Fans came from 2hrs away and I couldn't even believe it. That showed me the 252 was rocking with me and I can't lose.

What radio stations in are supporting your music, and how important is radio play in the digital age?
DD- Well for the most part I would say all the radio stations especially in NC are supporting. I have good relations with a lot of them because im always doing shows out here, and I always show them love. The radio is very important because you  gotta have both of them to level your buzz level high.

You Tube is a massive medium now for worldwide exposure. Do you have your own channel, and apart from music videos what other footage do you have?
Yea I have a few channels the main one is youtube.com/biggates1 it is important to always record footage so the people can keep up with you. The funny thing is fans record so much of my shows that they have better footage than I have...lol.

As a Recording artist or musician how do you hope to stay earning money in a time where record sales are notoriously bad due to downloading?
If I keep my material interesting, the people will keep supporting especially if I keep them entertained. I mean I don't think people aren't buying cds per se, illegal downloading and leaks have to be curbed. Until that, basically a lot of ground work must be done.

For people who have never checked your music how would you describe your music?
Its like a motion picture when ever u hear my music because I paint pictures you can see it when u listening to it. That's what I attempt to do, provide material that's like a story line.

Thanks for your time, before you go is there anything you want to add?
DD- yea GooGle me!! I love my fans and thanks for the all the support. Couldn't do it without the support of the sites, magazines, blogs. Give us your details - My Space, Facebook, Twitter, Website, etc! www.Myspace.com/DirtydenGit, www.Twitter.com/DertyDen, www.DertyDen.com
