Mack Wasey aka King of UK Krunk has been making moise in the UK. He has already been on Tim Westwood’s BBC radio show and has collaborated with some of the biggest UK rappers in the scene such as Joe Grind, Jaja soze, PDC and many more.

When did you start making music and realise that you wanted to be a rapper?

I used to Rhyme since i was about 7 but didnt actually start rapping seriously until Late 2008 early 2009.

Was there a person or record that inspired you to pick up the pen and start writing songs and hit the studio?
There were many technical rappers i.e Nas, Big L, Big Pun that have influenced me in many ways however believe it or not when I heard that southern american rap sound, (mike Jones – down to Soulja boy tellem and Gucci mane) i was like “WooooW” And I knew it was time for me to bring that Flavour to the UK scene.

Where exactly are you from and what’s the Hip-Hop scene like there?
I’m from south London Which is basically the heart of UK rap.

Let’s talk about your latest project. Where can people get it, who features on it and who dealt with the production?
Ruthless records UK is where you can get my lastest mixtapes. First mixtape “Underground Hustle” which have some the best UK rappers on there featuring me for example Giggs, Joe Grind, Jaja soze PDC and many more. “The Year of The Mack” which is my 2nd Mixtape is also available there it has Mdot E on there, BloodLine’s Paper Pablo And OG’s Little Dee .

How are you getting your project out there? Do you have a distributor involved?
I do everything myself. I contact shops and hit the streets

Is there a shop or website stocking and supporting your music?
I would mostly say Youtube is the main web page i get support from however i have had videos on Grimedaily.com and You can also find some of my things on datpiff.com.

Getting radio play is real gripe for a lot of Hip-Hop artists, but have you had any radio play? If so what DJ’s and stations are supporting you?
I’ve been played on a few underground radio stations, I’ve also been on Tim Westwood’s Show.

Do you think that radio is still as important as it was in the digital age?
I Don’t think its as important however i do think its still has a major impact today! Theres radio stations all over the net these days.

Do you think the internet helps or hinders independent artists?
I think it helps acts, no doubt.

When it comes to making music what would you credit as your main motivation?
Every day Life, The Ups and Downs, Having money one day being Broke the next. Life in the Hood.

Let’s talk image and branding for a minute. Some artists spend lots of money on artwork and other acts aren’t that interested. How important is image, artwork and branding to you?
I think that is very important. Appearance is the first thing people see when they see you.  If the front cover of your mixtape/Album  doesnt  look appealing or  eye catching no one will ever see it and pick it up.

I think that any artist coming into the game these days needs a music video. I mean You Tube is one the most visited website in the world and its still a great way of promoting a track. Have you got any videos on there and have any of them actually got played on any TV Stations?
I do have videos on Youtube The most viewed is probably the track sound of my track with Giggs.

Or My Give me the Money http ://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0r-LVEhzN4

What was the last album you brought and where do you buy your music? Is there a good record shop in your area or do you buy on-line?
I’m only doing mixtapes for now and won’t be realsing an album for now. However You can down Heads or tails buy the 11th september 2010 on datpiff.com . I get all my music from itunes. Nice and simple. lol
