Nonstop Beatz is the new website for Producers to sell the rights or lease the licence of any music instrumental they have produced. This groundbreaking idea is now on-line and is getting ready for a major launch. Tricksta hooked with Otis, the man behind the project for this exclusive interview.

How ya doing bro, thanks for doing this interview for www.RagoMagazine.com. Congratulations on the new website. So tell us how did the idea for Nonstop Beatz come about?
I'm doing great bro, the futures looking bright. Thank you for doing the interview. Well Nonstop beatz has been something that I've thought about from years ago and only recently decided to do something about it before it was too late and someone else took the idea. I've been around artists for years so know what type of problems they face regarding getting the right beats. I noticed that sound click allow you to listen to producers instrumentals but you can't buy directly from the site so I thought it would be an improvement on their service with a twist. I didn't feel I needed to reinvent the wheel but rather improve it.

So how long did it take from the initial concept to seeing it all live & working on the internet?
I decided to take initial steps to set it up in June so it’s been six months for development to finally get completed. It's been interesting watching it grow and hopefully it will be the answer to what producers have been looking for!

So the general idea is that producers can sell or lease their beatz right? Can you expand on this a little and tell us how it actually works?
Yeah. You basically log in and create a profile which you upload instrumentals to. You can search the site by going to a specific producer’s page or you can search through genres. Customers can listen to snippets of the track and purchase directly from the site. They can either lease the beat or buy exclusive rights for it. We have set up a merchant banking system so it’s fully protected against internet fraud.

Who picks the price of the beat and how much normally is a beat to buy?
The producer sets the price and Nonstop beatz takes 20% of any sales made. The prices can vary from £50 to as much as £10,000+ it depends on the producer.

How do vocalists pay for their beat?
You can pay by Debit or Credit card through a secure merchant banking system.

Do you have to be a Hip-Hop or Grime producer to get on there or are you open to different styles?
There is no limitation to the genres that you'd like to produce. I come from an urban music background but its not limited at all, all genres are welcome.

Do you have to be from the UK based produced to sign up?
No, this is open to anywhere in the world. I'm hoping to tap into the US market once word starts to spread about the website.

So would you recommend that producers master their instrumentals before uploading them for people to hear?
Yes definitely, you’d want to present your music to the best it can be so it’s appealing to the listener and would make them interested in purchasing the beat.

A lot of producers reading this might think ‘what’s the point of that? I got my own connections that I’m selling beatz too’… what would you say to that?
I'd say wouldn't it make more sense to expand on your network and join a website where people are searching for your product rather than you going out looking for customers. For e.g. wouldn't you rather have your cd in every HMV rather than limit yourself to you being the only person selling it. You might be keeping 100% commission but in the long run you'll generate more custom and make more money overall.

Is it easy to set up and easy to work?
It’s very easy; literally take 2 minutes to sign up

Now what’s this on the site about ‘promoters’ can get involved too? Can you explain that more as this is a way that non-producers can get involved with Nonstop Beatz too right?
Basically I got this idea from my cousin who is a successful internet affiliate marketer. I've set the site up so anyone who has music links but doesn't actually produce themselves can earn a commission from any sale made directly from their page. So a promoter would set up a page and add any producer’s beats to their profile page and promote it to their network of people. They would receive 5% commission for any sale made and the producer will still receive their 20%.

Okay well listen, thanks so much for your time. I know your mad busy! Is there anything you would like to add before you go?
Yeh this is one of many platforms I'm involved in. I'm based in Manchester and provide some other services. So if for studio hire check www.nonstopstudios.co.uk for events check out www.nonstopevents.co.uk. I also have a partnership with www.onewaytvent.co.uk. This is just the beginning and there's many more things I plan to do!! I'd just like to leave it with

Thanks and all the best with the new venture.
