Brooklyn rapper Sagittarius Black is someone making noise. Tricksta had to take time out to interview this inspirational and promising Brooklyn rapper. Read more to get the latest…

Where are you from and what’s the Hip-Hop scene/industry like there?
I'm from Brooklyn, New York. Yea, there's a lot of open mic spots in the city like Nuyorican Poets Cafe, you can find me there every once in a while and Pyramid Club I've performed there a few times.

How did you get into music and what was the first Hip-Hop record you ever brought?
I’ve been surrounded by music my whole life. My moms played the oldies in the house and my brother played Hip Hop all the time. The first Hip Hop joint I brought was 19 Naughty lll “Hip Hop Hooray” was my ish of course. The next record I brought was The Shady LP and shortly after Nas’ I Am… I think those 3 influences kind of paint the picture of me as an artist…. kind of lol.

What have you released so far and what has the response been like?
We've released two projects so far. One mix tape "The Evolution of Sag Black" and my debut album "Burden Of Proof". The response has been crazy in the streets. The radio is filled with style over substance. People always come up to me and tell me they appreciate what I say in my rhymes.

What would say is the most popular track that you have released to date?
The most popular track I've released so far would have to be "Rah/ Insanity Plea" It's my favorite track on the album. I sent the beat to Gunz and he thought it was great. He arranged it and added his magic. It's a paranoid/ psychotic song.  If the bum sitting next to you on the train could spit this is what he would say.

What producers, mixtape DJ’s, record labels and rappers do you work with, and label are you signed to?
DJ Gunz and I own Brooklyn Collectiv Music Group. It's a music production company but we also develop artists. We work with Yung Image a hip hop/ reggae artist out of Brooklyn, D.Wilz is an R&B artist from Maryland, Xavier is a gospel/ R&B artist here in New York and we were recently in the studio with Mia. She's a pop artist/ songwriter from Florida. But we couldn't do it without Jae Cy our publicist and DJ Trigga Bashment they been with us since the beginning.

Tell us about your latest release, who features, what producers where involved and where you recorded it.
Burden Of Proof was produced by DJ Gunz and I. We recorded the entire album in our studio in New Jersey.

What’s been the most memorable gig and why?
My most memorable gig has got to be performing "Rah/ Insanity Plea" on stage with DJ Gunz and DJ Trigga Bashment. I looked over to my left and Jess James Figueroa was nodding his head to my track and the whole crowd was giving me energy.

What radio stations in are supporting your music, and how important is radio play in the digital age?
Radio play is the life blood of the digital age. That's why we have BKC-Radio. It’s our monthly radio show. DJ Gunz runs it with DJ Trigga Bashment, DJ Steve Gee and DJ Mo Flava. Check out Industry Net Worth Radio hosted by DJ Gunz and the Brooklyn Collectiv DJs. You can hear us on Bkc-radio.com.

You Tube is a massive medium now for worldwide exposure. Do you have your own channel, and apart from music videos what other footage do you have?
We're definitely on Youtube. You can find me at www.youtube.com/sagittariusblack. I have performances, studio sessions, vacations and crazy stuff I see in the street. I’m always on youtube watching Family Guy. If you got funny clips send them to me.

As a recording artist or musician how do you hope to stay earning money in a time where record sales are notoriously bad due to downloading?
This year, I've taken time to perfect my live show. I've been rehearsing and searching myself to give my audience something they've never seen before. The feeling of a great live show can't be duplicated or bootlegged in my opinion.

For people who have never checked your music how would you describe your music?
I'm the BEST of the old school mixed with the BEST of the new. I have the lyrical ability and complexity people look for in an MC and  I can switch it up, go in the studio make a catchy track and be witty and entertaining without dumbing my music down.

Thanks for your time, before you go is there anything you want to add?
