STRESS from NYC, USA. New York, New York big city of dreams! Well here is one rapper that isn’t dreaming... he is actually doing it. With a string of commendable mixtapes under his belt he marches forward in 2009 with his new single ‘They Want My Swag’ currently doing big thing both stateside and here in the UK. He is set to host the next volume of HHBRadio.com’s ‘DJ Sessions’ mixtape by our very own Tricksta due for release late February 2009 on HHB Radio Records. Tricksta caught up with him on-line to see what’s been going down with one of New York’s top MC’s… The last time I talked with you busy on your grind making moves and planning you single. What else you been up to in the last year? Jus been on da move doing shows and dropping a lot of mixtapes. I got about six in the works now. So how many mixtapes have you released to date now then? Lol!!!! I lost count a lot floating around out there but get ready for what's to come its going to be big for da 09'. What you got planned for 2009? Well I got some plans I rather not discuss don't want to jinx it but it’s big, big but jus look out for my DVD "Blood, Sweat And Tears”, a documentary about da grind of an underground artist. That sounds real interesting! Yeh the DVD game sees to be on the rise. When does the DVD drop and what can people expect to see on there? Any studio footage and music videos? Its going to have everything on it behind da scene never before seen footage of me shows, interviews, my life as of now in general expecting to drop summer 09'. I look forward to that. The airwaves in the UK are buzzing with your latest track 'They Want My Swagg'. What was the inspiration for making that track? Well music tells u what to say it told me "They Want My Swagg" its jus a real braggadocios record my swagg is unique ya digggg!!! Who produced the track and how long did it take to make? Produced by Breakthru - a fresh producer from universal records song took me minutes anybody who know my work ethic I don't spend a lot of time on records. So are there any plans to release a full-length debut album in 2009? For 09' I'm jus focusing on building a buzz I'm not going to release a album in 09' jus a lot of mixtapes but I do plan on touring da UK late 09'. So what’s your live show? Any footage on YouTube yet of you performing? I got a few clips of me performing check out www.youtube.com/stressdollaz u can also hit my My Space TV up if u haven't seen me perform live u should its a sight to see. Have you played many clubs in New York? I been all over NY performing my shows are energetic raw performance I interact wit da crowd to see how they feel about my set. What’s been your all time favorite gig/show and why? I don't have any at da moment but my dream performance is to rock Madison Square Garden in New York. I been doing music 14yrs I was inspired by my uncles I thought it was cool what they was doing when I was a kid so here I am now. So do you come from a musical background? Yea my whole family is into music. Any of them play in bands or anything? They all don't play now but in there time they played live band. That’s good man. Music really is your life! So let’s talk about New York for a minute. Ok. Where in New York are you from and did anyone famous in the Hip-Hop world come from your hood? I'm from Long Island, the home of Rakim, EPMD, De La Soul and Keith Murray.
Yea we keep it gritty here da game is all bubblegum music so we kind of off da radar now but we coming to take back what we started. Where are the hotspots for music in Long Island? If I was coming there would you take me? There isn't really hiphop in long island everything is in da 5 boros I'm from da Bronx but grew up partially there. What’s it like there? With so many people rapping do you find the competition healthy or annoying? Annoying too many gimmicks not enuff real substance what happened to lyrics? Everything now is singing and pop.
I like old school hip-hop, but now I like Jay-Z, 50Cent, T.I, Busta Rhymes, Lupe Fiasco, LL Cool J, Joe Budden and lot more... I'm not going to name them all I'd be here all day!!!!
Jay-z dats it!!!
