Another precision cut super tight-ass mix from one of favourite chopped and screwed DJ’s. This is one of Michael’s various artists’ mixtapes which weighs in twenty tracks deep. I was shocked with the choice of the first track with it being Jay-Z but then on listening to it I understand why it’s on there as it fits the mix well and it is in all fairness the track with Young Jeezy who kills it on this track. We soon get into the Southern selection with Young Dro & Young L.A and Coota Bang building the vibe nicely. We then get Damn D & Bun B from UGK’s ‘Luv It’ before getting contributions from the likes of Trae, Rob, J Dawg and Plies. Paul Wall really impressed me on this mix too. I think he really goes hard on ‘Hood Salute’ exclusive with Yung Redd. I just feel him on this track, he sounds real tight! Other impressive tracks were Heuy & Glasses Malone’s ’24-7’ and The Donk Riders ‘Fuck The Other Side’. 5000 Watts also chops up the likes of Rick Ross, Lil Young, Slim Thug as well as the legendary 2Pac with the track ‘Outlaw’. This mix really works so well, not just as superb collection of music but also as a slowed, screwed chopped and sliced mix that is such an enjoyable listen because it flows so smooth. In the right mood and played at the right time screw tapes are so damn sick. This is one of favourite tapes of 2009. www.myspace.com/djmichael5000watts Review by Tricksta |
