DJ SCREAM & DJ WHOO KID PRESENTS JUVENILE
‘Undefeated’

This banging new mixtape comes from two giants in the scene, DJ Scream and Whoo kid who both need no introduction to anybody reading a mixtape review! Then of course you have the other factor is that it’s a brand new mixtape from the Southern Rap legend Juvenile. Actually I said legend, and I mean that. Juvenile does not get the props he deserves in the Hip-Hop media in my opinion. I mean look at his track record… came in the game 1995 with his debut ‘Being Myself’ on Warlock Records which made a serious dent in the industry and led to him signing with Cash Money Records and unleashing a string of projects including the classic ‘400 Degreez’. He left Cash Money in 2001 and then in 2004 had international success with hit single ‘Slow Motion’.

Now with eight albums under his belt and his ninth album ‘Cocky & Confident’ due on December 1st, promotion has started for the album. That I guess is why Scream & Whoo Kid have been involved in this mixtape. On a level this will be on of the mixtapes from 2009 that I will actually remember. This is absolutely sick man, on a level… I think everyone needs this in their CD collection or iPod. The thing is with this mixtape is it simply has everything. The mix has that bouncing, moving feel and that real quality Southern sound all the way through. Kicking off with the superb ‘La La’ before kicking into the massive Gucci Mane collaboration ‘Gotta Get It’, this mix comes like a mixed album as the songs are tight and not just ‘left over album tracks’.

This is a first for me too as well, because this mixtape actually features a Hip-Hop track with Sean Kingston on that I actually liked! ‘We Don’t Backdown’ is a brilliant slice of Southern funk with rolling snares, subbase and brilliant piano line. The hook is infectious as is Juvi’s UTP flow! I’m really feeling ‘Gangsta Stories’ and ‘Race For The Money’ and ‘Stay The Night’ featuring BG is a good track that could easily crossover to radio. I am properly into this mixtape, seriously it has just reminded me how good Juvenile actually is. Make sure you grab this tape man its super sick mayne!!
