DUBBLEDGE
‘One Inch Punch’
(Edge Muzic)

Now I’m going to have to be real here! LOL. It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of this London artist, and to be honest ever since he mentioned the words UK Runnings in one of his tracks I obviously loved him to bits (no homo!). So here we go, this is the latest instalment ‘One Inch Punch’ and it feels like ages since I’ve jammed something new by my boy Dubbledge, but trust me its been worth the wait!

This is a mixtape with a theme. Musically Dubbledge has chosen to murk some classic tracks from that ‘golden era’ of Hip-Hop from 1991 to 1994 ish. He does this well and put a totally different slant on the original tracks. Fourteen tracks deep there’s a barrage of tracks that are well worth being in your CD collection. Kicking off with ‘Edge Got Da Props’ which is obviously over Black Moon’s classic ‘Who Got The Props’, Dubbledge goes on to kill tracks by Dr. Dre and then drops science over Wu-Tang on ‘Bring Da Pain’. As Edge continues to rap with ease, he mixes humour with some serious concepts which I guess gives him uniqueness.

I love ’09 Till Infinity’ over the Souls Of Mischief classic and ‘Juice aka Da Duppy Tamer’ sees he team up with Kyza for a deep track. The DJ Premier produced Group Home ‘Livin Proof’ gets hurt too, as does more Wu-Tang tracks, Tribe Called Quest and Jeru Da Damaja. TB, TBear, Tuberculosis (that’s all the same person for those that’s don’t know! LOL) features too on the classic ‘Glaciers Of Ice’. This is one of my favourite tracks on this mixtape although I do really like most of the stuff on here!

If you have been asleep for the last few years then wake up and get on Dubbledge, he is something refreshing original, which is why he’ll always get the thumbs up for Rago Magazine.
