First up is the album version which is something that fans of J Dilla, Pete Rock and Madlib will love, as it’s straight up 85bpm head nodding good authentic hip-hop. He drops some clever metaphors with a strong delivery and has a certain swagger that I love. The radio version opts for 808 style drums with a real UGK, Pimp C, 8Ball & MJG type feel with those high-end organs and a brilliantly sung Southern style hook. If you like Z-Ro, Devin The Dude and Charlie Boy you’ll be properly fiending for this! Also included on this CD is the harder hitting ‘If U Stay Ready’ which is has a lot more of a club feel, maybe even if a strip club type feel if I am honest! Nice track, but didn’t hit me as hard as the last track ‘You Ain’t Got 2 Get Ready’ which has a classic live bass feel with a real funk feel. I really like this MC; he has skills and can definitely hold his own. I got to hunt this album down and buy it, I am really impressed. Real Hip-Hop delivered with passion and ease. Big with a capitol B. Remember Rago Magazine told you! www.myspace.com/tucept Review by Tricksta |
